As president and chief executive officer of Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI), John Boncher is responsible for the strategic direction and profitability of one of North America’s largest electrical engineering and construction firms. Under John’s leadership, CEI has dominated the data center, alternative energy and commercial markets and has expanded into new regions.
Since joining CEI in 1989, John has focused on identifying customer needs, delivering quality results, exploring new market opportunities and capitalizing on the company's core strengths to expand the business. While a branch manager of CEI’s San Jose division, John oversaw more than $500 million in data center projects in a single year, helping to cement CEI a data center design, installation and commissioning leader. As branch manager in San Francisco, he expanded into the high-rise construction market and extended CEI’s reach to serve customers throughout North America. John became CEO in 2010.
John holds a degree in economics from the University of California, Irvine, serves on the Industry Advisory Committee for California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), and is a member of the Rotary Club of San Jose.
