Rudy Bergthold is responsible for engineering technical direction and strategy. Since joining Cupertino Electric in 1984, Rudy has held the position of chief engineer and has been the chief designer for more than two billion dollars worth of in-place, mission-critical facility electrical construction. In addition to designing mission-critical infrastructure projects, Rudy’s 35 years of experience includes supervision of design for dozens of industrial and commercial sites, high-tech manufacturing and fabrication buildings, high-rise office and mixed-use buildings, biotech/pharmaceutical facilities, and Internet Service Provider (ISP) sites. He is considered a national expert in the application of kinetic stored energy UPS systems.
Prior to joining Cupertino Electric, Rudy was employed by Granite Construction Company as an electrical systems engineer and installation supervisor for multiple industrial power generation and water delivery systems. Before working for Granite Construction, Rudy was involved with the design and construction of medium and low voltage switchboards, panel boards, transformers and motor control centers for Westinghouse Electric Corporation’s Distribution Equipment Division.
Rudy holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, is a licensed engineer and is registered to practice electrical engineering in 13 states. He is a frequent speaker at national industry conferences, has written numerous industry articles and has presented several nationally-broadcast Web-based seminars for Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine. He is a member of IEEE and represents CEI in the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), the 7X24 Exchange, AFCOM, the Association of Facilities Engineers and the Uptime Institute.
