Cupertino Electric Earns National Recognition for Safety Program from the Associated General Contractors of America

Approach, Commitment and Empowerment-Focus Propel Safety Program to Second-in-Nation Among Specialty Contractors Working More Than 1 Million Hours

SAN JOSE, Calif. — March 18, 2013—Construction and engineering company, Cupertino Electric, Inc., today announced that its safety program has been named second in the nation by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) among specialty contractors working more than one million hours in 2011. As the 2011 and 2012 recipient of the AGC of California's "Safety Awards of Excellence," Cupertino Electric was chosen as one of three finalists to compete for national safety recognition during the national AGC convention held last week in Palm Springs, Calif.

"To be consistently recognized by a prestigious organization like the AGC for never losing sight of safety, despite the increasingly complex, fast-track electrical projects we build is humbling," said John Boncher, president and chief executive officer of Cupertino Electric. "No matter where we work in the world or how large our projects are, we are dedicated to ensuring that safety is not simply a resulting behavior at Cupertino Electric; it's a mindset."

About the Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) The Associated General Contractors of America is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States with 95 chapters nationwide. The organization's Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) recognizes construction companies that excel at safety performance, based on demonstrated management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and program innovation.

Because of Cupertino Electric's status as the California "Safety Awards of Excellence" recipient in 2012 for specialty contractors working more than one million hours in 2011, the company was chosen as a finalist for the national program. Seven AGC of California member companies were finalists in the national competition. Finalist companies presented information at the annual AGC convention on their safety programs and fielded questions from an independent panel of judges. The safety awards were revealed at a special breakfast during the AGC convention on March 8, 2013 in Palm Springs.
