A confidential client in the defense industry hired Cupertino Electric (CEI) to overhaul its electrical and data systems in this tenant improvement construction project. The project turned a dated facility into an open-concept office space. The new, 130,000-square-foot commercial office building in San Jose is a perfect example of a successful, open-ceiling MC installation that not only looks great, but also saved the customer money. These two benefits were pitched in tandem during the bid phase and were happily accepted by the customer to achieve its goals.
Instead of installing rigid conduit raceways and then pulling hundreds of feet of cable through, the field team increased efficiency by pulling metal-clad (MC) cable instead. Because the MC feeders don't need conventional metal conduit straps and can be secured using industrial strength zip ties, the electricians could install continuous runs of MC roughly 600 feet at a time—saving labor time and money. The exposed look provided a perfect match to the office's industrial vibe.
