Project Summary

When the owners of Santa Monica Place (Macerich) decided to revitalize their retail property in 2007 by turning it from an outdated, indoor mall to a luxurious, outdoor shopping plaza near the Pacific Ocean, they looked to Cupertino Electric for their electrical needs. To transform the property into a three-story, open-air shopping plaza with a rooftop dining area, we installed high-end house, landscape and LED lighting, as well as procured various types of LED and fluorescent handrail lighting. Cupertino Electric was also responsible for the installation of the tenant feeder back-bone conduit to each retail space and performed the electrical work for the site’s anchor department store, Bloomingdale’s.

Due to the densely populated downtown location of the outdoor mall, the project required intense coordination for deliveries of materials and supplies to the jobsite. Cupertino Electric was able to successfully streamline the delivery process and minimize disruption to the project due to traffic complications. This focus on coordination and results enabled the retail construction project to be completed on time and on budget.
