This Design/Build tenant improvement project spanned a 72,000 square-foot office building, including three office floors and the roof, for the this confidential application company’s new headquarters in downtown Mountain View. The electrical scope included power, lighting and lighting control, fire alarm, emergency responder radio coverage system (ERRCS), distributed antenna system (DAS), telecom, security cabling, and audio-visual cabling.
The 6,000 square-foot roof deck has a raised-floor concrete paver system with in-paver uplights, shade trellis with downlighting, food service islands with a bar and under-counter strip lighting, wood slat walls with LED accent lighting, overhead string lights, custom landscaped planters with stake lighting, fire pit, and electric heaters. The lighting system is controlled with a Lutron lighting control and dimming system. The high-end, 5,000 square-foot fitness center on the first floor has space for free weights, machine weights, cardio machines, a full spinning studio, and yoga studio. All the areas of the fitness center have programmable dimmable lighting.
One consistent design feature throughout the space was floating wood slat ceilings (can be seen in conference rooms, fitness area, and hallways). CEI developed a lighting design and worked closely with the ceiling installer to ensure each fixture was installed flush with the bottom of the wood ceiling slats and fit perfectly in the spacing of the wood slats. Each linear lighting fixture took the place of one wood slat.
This fast-moving project was fully designed and built in seven months. Because the tenant was moving from their old space into this new office building, there were no extensions in time, causing Cupertino Electric to adapt and improve process along the course of the job.
