Moreland School District
Cupertino Electric school solar energy electrical design and construction project for Moreland School District in San Jose, California
San Jose, CA
Project Size:
170 kW
Project Attributes:
Project Summary:

For more than 150 years, the Moreland School District has been helping children in elementary school, middle school and high school achieve academic excellence. In 2008, the district decided to reduce its energy consumption with the installation of a 170-kilowatt (kW) solar photovoltaic (PV) system at three of its six schools.

The solar installations at Baker, Anderson and Payne elementary schools in San Jose are rooftop-mounted systems that take advantage of the clear and unobstructed rooftops to reduce energy costs for the district. These solar energy systems produce enough energy to offset utility costs, enabling the district to free up funds for additional spending on educational expenses, and demonstrates leadership to the academic community in the area of environmental stewardship.
