Foothill College Fire Alarm System
Fire alarm system upgrade
Los Altos, CA
40,000 feet of fiber optic cabling
Cupertino Electric was contracted to completely overhaul the extensive fire alarm system for this community college. During the project, all of the old copper wire was replaced with 40,000 feet of fiber optic cabling to create a new, high-speed backbone connecting all systems throughout the school. The Network Command Center, or NCC, serves as the main control panel for the entire fire alarm system. This central control panel and 15 other installations were either upgraded or replaced completely, making up the campus alert and alarm system that warns students and contacts the fire department in an emergency. Portions of the campus were shut-down for short amounts of time when necessary, but most work at Foothill was done on weekends or holidays to minimize disruption.
