The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute (GHEI) consists of a three-story building roughly 64,000 square-feet designed for the School of Medicine’s Ophthalmology Department, including its clinical and surgical functions previously housed at the Gottschalk Medical Plaza. The GHEI includes approximately 9,900 square-feet for ambulatory surgery, 4,800 square-feet for ophthalmology clinics, and 700 square-feet for optical sales. Roughly 19,000 square feet was set aside as shell space so that it could be built-out in the future. The project is located within the Biomedical Research Center on the UCI campus.
