Columbia Square Redevelopment / Renovation

The multi-phase Columbia Square Redevelopment and Residential Tower Project included work on four buildings, including the new construction of two six-story mixed-use commercial tower and one high-rise residential tower, and the renovation of a historical building. 

Columbia Square Redevelopment

The first two phases of this development project were performed under general contractor Hathaway Dinwiddie. The first phase, which was complete in June 2014, involved renovating the original CBS Radio building where the “I Love Lucy” pilot was filmed and converting it into office space. The second phase, which was complete December 2015, involved the new construction of roughly 346,000 square-feet of office space spanning three six-story towers and one two-story building with 595,000 square-feet of underground parking on five levels. 

Columbia Square Residential Tower

The third phase of the sequenced Columbia Square project is the new construction of a 200 unit, 20-story residential tower. Electrical scope on the project included fire alarm, first responder, tele/data and security systems. All new and renovated buildings in Los Angeles and Santa Monica require a local art installation, and the art feature installed at Columbia Square required intense night time light coordination and fine-tuning several spotlights to accommodate the artist's vision. This was performed as part of Cupertino Electric’s scope of this portion of the project.
