CEI Sponsors 26th Annual ASC Competition

Eighteen CEI employees are in Reno, Nevada this week for the 26th annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Competition.

Every year the competition brings more than 1,000 construction management university students together with 400 industry professionals. This is Cupertino Electric's seventh year attending ASC, and the fourth year the company has sponsored the open category "Electrical Problem" portion of the competition.

Students who compete in the Electrical Problem are challenged with a real-world situation that they must solve. They have eighteen hours to deal with estimating, design, installation and cost, and an hour the next day to present their findings to the judges. This year eight schools will compete: Auburn University, Cal Poly San Louis Obispo University, Chico State University, Colorado State University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Oregon State University, Purdue University, and Sacramento State University.

It's intense, fast, and great exposure to taste what the real world is like. It's also a great opportunity for Cupertino Electric representatives to meet the best and the brightest construction management students from across the country. I've made it my mission to develop relationships with these potential interns and employees and make sure they are aware of the viable careers available in electrical construction and Cupertino Electric.
